Ticketer will further enhance its reputation for pushing the boundaries of innovation with a concept demonstration of the new barcode scanner support for the company’s ground-breaking Electronic Ticket Machines (ETMs) at Euro Bus Expo next month.
The new development aims to fill in the final piece of the jigsaw for the acceptance of m-tickets, finally providing a way to verify, authenticate and account for m-tickets as they are presented on bus.
Without direct support for barcode and QR code scanning built into the ETM, the acceptance of m-tickets can fall into a black hole for operators. Ticketer’s new development will plug that hole and operators will now be able to account accurately for the number of m-tickets accepted on bus through their core reporting system.
In addition, automatically scanning the barcode to verify the validity of the ticket removes the responsibility on the driver to verify the barcode ticket visually, which could lead to an evolution in the range of tickets sold through m-tickets.
Ticketer will have working prototypes of this exciting new project on Stand T170 in the Technology Zone at Euro Bus Expo.
The company also will be demonstrating the features of the new hand-held ETM, which it launched earlier this year to meet overwhelming demand from operators. The new hand-held ETM includes all the same features as the fixed unit, runs the same software, uses the same back office, and is the same price – allowing operators to choose the most suitable version to meet their needs rather than focusing on the cost differential.
Orders for the new hand-held ETM have flooded in, with operators recognising the flexibility that they afford for multiple uses, including queue busting, emergency cover and off-bus ticketing requirements.
Both the hand-held and fixed ETMs from Ticketer have recently benefited from a brand new feature – schedule adherence. This newly released addition not only reports across the back office, but also informs the driver if they are running early or late and provides alerts to prevent them from departing from a stop too early. Several operators are already using this new feature.
