Ticketer is looking to change the way people travel. We are now the UK’s largest ETM supplier, with over 10 years of trading, and with ticketing systems on buses across the UK, from Cornwall to the Shetland Islands. And it’s not just buses. In fact, there are Ticketer software and devices on every form of public transport, including trams, trains, aircraft and horse trams(!). Whatever the size of fleet, whatever the form of public transport, we’re by the side of operators, keeping their businesses moving forward through our innovative public transportation technology.

Ticketer systems provide a wealth of useful information to our operators and we think it’s time that this was shared with the passengers, directly from the source, to change the way people travel. The first product within the passenger portfolio will be a mobile app which will promote multi-modal public transport to regular users and help attract even the most loyal car and private hire / taxi users.

About the Role

With the above in mind and our ambitious international growth plans, we are seeking to strengthen our footprint in Latin America, by recruiting a Business Development Director for the Andean Zone, based in Colombia. This role is going to be a key component of Ticketer’s international journey and continued growth over the coming years.

As the Business Development Director for the Andean Zone, you will be ultimately responsible for the Ticketer’s business success in the region. You will work closely with the General Manager International to define and execute the Ticketer’s growth strategy for the zone, and to build, develop and maintain relationships in the regional mobility ecosystem, as well as identify, develop and successfully close business opportunities for Ticketer.

You will also take a hands-on approach to raise local awareness of Ticketer, and in coordination with the Marketing department, you will work on a strategic marketing plan to drive Ticketer’s thought leadership in the region.

As part of the Marketing activities, you will represent Ticketer at industry events, attending congresses, conferences and exhibitions, and presenting and defending Ticketer’s vision, experience and products when necessary.

The opportunity pipeline in your region will be yours, and you will work with the different teams at Ticketer to ensure that the right opportunities are selected, developed and supported by the business, and for Ticketer being positioned at the best possible place to win the business opportunities.

Furthermore, you will research and analyze market evolution and trends, and deliver competitive and market intelligence about your region.

When navigating through the customer’s procurement processes, working on proposals, or responding to Requests for Information (RFIs) or Proposals (RFPs), you will engage with the rest of the Ticketer organization to ensure that the best technical and commercial proposal is prepared, documented and submitted, and the business is ultimately secured. When required, you will defend the proposals at oral presentations and lead the subsequent scope and price negotiation process.

Also, you will play a key role in the evolution of the Ticketer products and their fit for your region, and you will work with the Product Team to ensure that the regional requirements are justified and conveniently incorporated onto the product and roadmap.

Partnerships will be a key element for the international growth journey at Ticketer, and you will be responsible for identifying, engaging and developing relationships with the right local and regional partners to help Ticketer scale in the sales capacity and successful delivery of the services to authorities, cities and operators.

About you

  • A self starter and autonomous, able to successfully work in a remote scheme and stay motivated, you are comfortable working under your own initiative
  • Able to engage and establish relationships with C-level stakeholders
  • Have 8+ years of experience in business development (experience in transportation / mobility industry and fare collection in public transport would be a plus)
  • A native Spanish speaker, with excellent written and verbal communication skills, and fluent in English (Portuguese is a plus)
  • You are quick to learn, positive, adaptable, innovative, and energetic
  • Familiar with public transport and payment technologies
  • Excited to work in the mobility space, and willing to make a positive impact on the future of cities and their people
