Oink Aboard

29 June 2016

In support of Ipswich Buses’ involvement with ‘Pigs Gone Wild’, the biggest mass participation art event in Suffolk, Ticketer’s Electronic Ticket Machines now have a unique audio response to passengers buying the ‘Family Pig Pass’.

Every time someone buys a Pig Pass ticket, the Ticketer ETM will emit a loud ‘oink’ in thanks and Ipswich Buses will donate £1 to St Elizabeth Hospice for every ticket sold.

This is the first time Ticketer has been asked to create an audible response to a ticket being issued and immediately said yes to the request and only then set about figuring out how it could be done.

Jeremy Cooper, Managing Director for Ipswich Buses, commented: “Ticketer really saved our bacon by coming up with the ‘oink’ against a very tight deadline. We are so pleased that everyone is able to join in the fun, enjoy some local art and raise money for our local Hospice too. Watch this space for another offer on our Pork and Ride service.”

‘Pigs Gone Wild’ is an interactive sculpture trail of over 40 pigs in Ipswich and the surrounding area. The event lasts from 27th June until 2nd September, after which the pig sculptures, beautifully decorated by artists and generously sponsored by local businesses, will be auctioned to raise funds for St Elizabeth Hospice.

During the event, passengers can buy a Family Pig Pass for travel on all Ipswich Buses’ town centre routes as well as on Carter’s route 94 which stops near Jimmy’s Farm where one of the pig sculptures is located. The Pass allows unlimited travel after 9am for 2 Adults and up to 3 children or 1 Adult and up to 4 children for £5.

John Clarfelt, Managing Director of Ticketer, comments: “This was a very ham-bitious project for us, but one which we were extremely happy to take on. Every time a Family Pig Pass is issued, our ETM will oink in a particularly joyful way. We auditioned several pigs for this project who all wanted to hog the limelight, before we found the perfect sow-nd.
