Ticketer doing the best, better

7 August 2015

Following another year of significant growth, Ticketer has built on its innovative solution with the next generation of its Electronic Ticket Machines, significantly increased the speed of its remote ITSO top ups and greatly enhanced its hosting capabilities.

Ticketer has been busy enhancing the already market-leading ETM with upgraded performance, an improved printer function and an optional barcode/QR code scanning module, while maintaining its compatibility with previous generations of Ticketer ETMs on the Ticketer portal.

This is complementary to the company’s fully functional Hand-held ETM, which was launched last year and which has been in hot demand by existing and new customers, culminating with Ticketer most recently winning the Nottingham County Council Tender for Hand-held ETMs.

The company is also about to undergo live field trials of its EMV ‘wave-and-pay’ functionality and is expecting full deployment later this year.

But the changes have not all just been on the hardware side. Ticketer has continued to extend the capability of both the ETMs and hosted back office, including enhancing the company’s integrated Schedule Adherence package (launched last year) based on feedback from customers. Indeed, due to the phenomenal growth of the company over the past year, the back office infrastructure was recently upgraded, with no impact to its customers, many of whom will not have realised such a major upgrade had happened.

Ticketer now has ETMs involved in most of the UK commercial smartcard schemes, with Ticketer ETMs transacting with Transport Scotland, MerseyTravel, TfGM, Nexus, SWSAL, Solent and Yorcard cards, amongst many others. This year Ticketer is also introducing a raft of ITSO commercial cards on behalf of many of its operators through its new card bureau.

In addition, Ticketer has boosted the performance of its ITSO remote top-up capability, with top-ups regularly being collected on bus within an hour of purchase, which means that passengers can now purchase their top-up over breakfast and collect it from the bus on the way in to work.

Visitors to the Ticketer Stand (T60 in the Technology Zone) at Coach & Bus Live will be able to fully explore the capabilities of the next generation of ETMs and Hand-Helds, which maintains all of the features of the fixed unit but with greater flexibility in use. Visitors will also be able to see demonstrations of the new EMV ‘wave-and-pay’ and QR code readers for integrated m-ticketing.

John Clarfelt, Managing Director of Ticketer, comments: “It has been a very busy year for us, with a growing number of enquiries for new systems and also demand for added functionality to our system to meet particular requirements. The benefit of the Ticketer system is its flexibility, so we have been able to build in the new functionality for all of our customers. But that’s not the end of the story, as we are already working on new, exciting projects that will further help our customers to run their ticketing, tracking and schedule adherence operations more effectively.”
